Lifeguarding
Lifeguarding is an exciting and rewarding job that carries great
responsibility. Lifeguards train hard for events they hope will
never happen and which they work hard to prevent. When prevention
fails, lifeguards are ready to respond as expert rescuers.
How to become a lifeguard
Lifeguards are good swimmers who take lifesaving and first aid
training in the Society's Bronze medal and first aid awards. Bronze
Cross is the Lifesaving Society's assistant lifeguard award and a
prerequisite to National Lifeguard certification.
To earn National Lifeguard
certification you must be a minimum 15 years of age and hold Bronze
Cross and Standard First Aid
certifications.
