Volunteer Opportunity -Athlete Representative


Job Description

Purpose: To represent the needs and speak on behalf of the interests of athletes from all levels of lifesaving sport in Newfoundland Labrador

Eligibility: To be eligible for nomination as Athlete Representative, on closing  date of nominations one must:

  • Be a registered athlete in good standing.
  • Hold a current Bronze Medallion or higher Lifesaving Society certification.

Term of Office: Appointed by the Board of Directors to the Sport Council for a term of two years.
Reporting Relationship: To the Board of Directors as required. To the Sport council as required

  1. To represent Newfoundland Labrador athletes.
  2. To communicate with athletes regularly and to respond to athletes inquiries and concerns.
  3. To represent Newfoundland Labrador on the Canadian Athletes Council.
  4. To monitor and provide input into the development of lifesaving sport programs, championships, and competition manuals.

Required Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Commitment to the drowning prevention mission of the Lifesaving Society.
  • Knowledge and experience to provide leadership for the specific portfolio.
  • Management skills to govern the business affairs of the Society.
  • Current Bronze Medallion or higher Lifesaving Society Certification
  • Be a registered athlete in good standing.

Minimum Legal Qualifications

  • Must be a minimum of nineteen years of age.
  • Must be legally competent.
